Unfortunately, I am unable to attend. My house is located directly
across the street from Jennifer Jancik, 27751 Blossom. We have been neighbors with Jennifer and her parents
for 30 years. Reluctantly I am forwaxding this email in response to the "shed" built on the property. The
aforementioned "shed" is not visible from my yard. Frankly, I have always been thankful that neither of my
^eighbors has a shed and my home has an unobstructed view.
Jennifer invited me over to see the "shed" after it was completed. Honestly, I was stunned when I saw the small
house-like structure in her yard. I would not have ever considered it a shed. I have always thought of a shed as
a small structure for housing a lawnmower and yard tools allowing more space in the garage. This structure has
a front porch, windows, front door and side door. The design and construction of the structure is just beautiful,
much more suited for a large country lot where it could be placed away from the home and enjoyed from a
distance.
My fear with a variance(s) is that more structures could be built with the same dimensions but without the
quality of workmanship. Just imagine the possibility of one on each side of your home and one behind your
home. Judging by the size, this structure could almost be used for additional housing.
I am curious about this appeals process. My son built a privacy fence for my elderly Mother-in-Law who
resides on Elder Drive in North Olmsted (since 1962). A permit was obtained stating details and posted
properly at the residence. The home butts up against an apartment complex in Olmsted Township with the rear
of my Mother-in-Law's home facing the rear of the complex garages. Not only was it not safe for her, but an
eyesore looking at the rear of a line of garages. My son constructed the sides of the privacy fence according to
code but decided to flip the fence at the rear of the property so the nicer side was facing my Mother-in-Law's
home and the back side the rear of the garages. The North Olmsted inspector arrived and directed my son to
tear down the fence and rebuild according to code.
At this meeting you are discussing a building with no permit, no site plans to scale submitted/approved,
iriances needed and yet the structure stands. My son had a permit, not able to get a variance on a fence and
nad to teax down and reconstruct the rear fence. I am failing to understand how this system in North Olmsted
works for some and not apparently others. I am very sorry about the expense of this building, but all the more
