McElroy said the VA has assisted as much as they could by installing equipment to improve her <br />husband's mobility but the upper level of the home is no longer accessible for him. The addition <br />will provide safety and independence for her husband. Mr. McReynolds said he has no <br />obj ections to the request as structural requirements for the addition has created the hardship. Ms. <br />Rudolph asked if the patio door would remain off the hall for access to the courtyard area and <br />Ms. McElroy said yes. Ms. Diver said the standard design/layout of the older homes weren't ' <br />designed for accessibility and the variance would fulfill that need. Ms. Rudolph said the design <br />and layout of the addition worked well on the lot and the request was not excessive. Mr. Raig <br />commended the owner and contractor for being sensitive to the sight lines, elevations and <br />rooflines as the addition will appear to be part of the original home not just an added addition. <br />The manner in which the addition was design will improve the value of the home and meet the <br />needs of the owner. A variance for multiple ground signs located within 200 feet, code requires separation of 200 <br />feet, applicant shows less than 200, Section 1163.27(a) <br />5. A variance for non-conforming ground signs, cocie does not permit pole signs, Section <br />1163.31. See note 3. <br />Notes: <br />1. BZA previously granted a variance for 7 additional ground signs on 9/2/10. <br />2.
