GOALs FOR 2014 On Saturday, August 24, 2013 the Landmarks Commission co- sponsored a speaker series on the National Air Races with the Olmsted Historical Society. Air Racing Historian Bill Meixner made a presentation on the National Air Races ranging from the late 1920's through the late 1930's, with pictures and stories that brought to life the era of aviation pioneers such as Jimmy Doolittle and Benny Howard. In addition to the goals listed in the City's 2009 Historic Preservation Plan, the Landmarks Commission has specific priorities for 2014, which include the following: • Work together with City Officials, Arts Commission, North Olmsted Schools, Olmsted Historical Society and other local groups/organizations to prepare for North Olmsted's 2015 Bicentennial celebration. • Support efforts to create a capital improvement plan for Old Town Hall to ensure the building remains in good condition and best serves the needs of the community. • Continue to identify potential landmarks and research eligible properties for historic recognition plaques. 24048 Mastick Road: The home is a Lustron home constructed entirely of inetal in 1949.
