the development plans as the commission is not addressing a phase II or signs at this time. Mr.
Paich said all high end hotels use masonry systems along first floor and then from there up EIFS
which is easily changeable and more economically efficient. To require this hotel to be entirely
masonry would prohibit the site from being developed.
Mr. Malone moved, seconded by Ms. Walker to approve CMS13-23: Hampton Inn; PP#
236-18-011 (SW corner of Country Club & Columbia) their request which consists of a
newly constructed commercial hotel and site improvements with the following conditions:
1. All references to signage and or a Phase II which is not being addressed are to be removed
from the development plans.
2. All inforflnation requested by the engineering department is to be provided
3. Elements shown as dark EIFS will be changed to masonry brick to match the dark eolored
EIFS.
4. Landscaping throughout the site will be irrigated.
Motion passed 7-0.
COMMUNICATIONS
4302 Porter Road
Ms. Wenger introduced Mr. Richner from Landmarks Commission who has worked in detail on
the proposed report. Mr. Richner reviewed the sandstone home's construction and owners of the
home throughout the years. The home was constructed in 1860 and is the only sandstone home
in the area. The current owner has upgraded the site and is in favor of his home being
recognized as a historically significant home to the area. During the 70's the home was vacant
and suffered a fire. The city was about to demolish the home when a local historian Ms. Beriy
Lord championed the cause to save the home. The Landmarks Commission believes that the
home is worth recognizing and falls within the spirit and intent of the Master Plan.
Mr. Malone moved, seconcled by Mr. Sclaumann, to find that designating the 4302 Porter
Road property as a North Olrnsted landmark would be supported by the City's master plan,
which passed 7-0.
2013 APA Ohio Plannin%!
