? 4
W.. %
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
ARTS COMMISSION
BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE MEETING
MINUTES OF DECEMBER 17, 2014
Bill Brake called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room.
Present: Bill Brake, Lauren Suter, Paul Schumann, David Neville, Jim Dubelko, Duane
Limpert, Jackie Chavez-Anderson, Tom Dubowski, Stephanie Procter, Laura Simna,
Cailey Brake, David Wahl, Jamie Hall, Molly Kelly, Bryan O'Malley
Staff: Planning & Development Director Kim Wenger
1. Financial Report
a. Fundraising update
St John Medical Center will be sponsoring February's I 1? North Olmsted events and
Chambers Funeral Home will be sponsoring Bicentennial Boom, both for $5,000 each. A
general support donation piece and letter from the mayor was developed and mailed out to
solicit smaller donations from individuals, businesses and community groups. Donations
have started coming in.
b. 2015 budget
Budget numbers have been a moving target with sponsorships factoring largely into scope of
events. City Council will be asked to contribute funds to the celebration, so a better
understanding of budget is required. Duane will work with Kim, Carrie and event chairs to
iron out a draft budget, at least through the first quarter 2015, by January.
II. Publicitv & Outreach Renorts
a. Website: celebratenortholmsted.com
The next phase of website content will launch in early January and will include an Inspire
section featuring interesting people, cool businesses and great projects each month. The
homepage will be redesigned and more functionality added. The website is now linked to
Facebook through MailChimp, the tool used for bicentennial email blasts.
b. Facebook: Celebrate North Olmsted
Significant interest is being generated by the "This Day in History" pieces on the page.
Landmarks Commission members should continue to populate the spreadsheet with facts for
use next year. Committee invited friends to like the CNO page to reach the goal of SOO likes.
c. Bicentennial Co-Branding
A handful of community groups submitted events for co-branding which have been accepted.
Their events will be in print literature, on the website and in the NO Magazine. Kim will
reach out to groups early in 2015 with logo files and whatever merchandise is decided will
accompany the brand. A fillable form will soon be available on the website for organizations
to use in making additional requests for co-branding.
