Bicentennial PR Update
Kim gave an update about the status of the North Olmsted Magazine, Bicentennial website and
Celebrate North Olmsted Facebook page. David suggested that another way of publicizing
bicentennial events would be through paper placemats used at local restaurants and at events of
community groups and organizations. He brought an example from North Ridgeville. David will
research business and organization interest in participating and gauge how many would need to
be printed for pricing purposes.
A larger discussion was had regarding promotions of events. A variety of ineans exist, including
digital and social media, signs and banners, posters and rack cards, etc. Lauren will create a
spreadsheet that contains lists of businesses with display areas/corkboards, public places and
other locations where event cards can be left. Commission members can also work to engage
volunteers or groups that could help distribute literature or forward information. Promotion is the
responsibility of the Commission; members should work to devise ways to deliver information in
the most efficient way possible.
NEW BUSINESS
New Year's Eve Bicentennial Bash
Tickets are now on sale through the bicentennial website. Rack cards were distributed. Once
Tree Lighting is concluded, all promotional efforts should turn to the New Year's Eve event.
I r North Olmsted
Draft logos were shared. Three events will be held in February: a fitness event at the Rec Center
on February 6, the state of the city at Springvale on February 12, and a food show at the
Community Cabin on February 22. The committee will be incorporating student art, themed
merchandise, banners and possibly yarn bombing.
Summer in the Citv
David reviewed possible bands and musical styles for 2015. Laura will also be providing ideas
and input for consideration. Invacare is sponsoring the series for $1,000. Much more discussion
will be had at future meetings.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business the meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
ill Brake Kimberly Wenger?
Chair Director of Planning & Development
Approved: 1 - a 1 " I s-
