members are individually encouraged to use #CelebrateNO or #CelebrateNorthOlmsted to
promote bicentennial events on Twitter,
c. North Olmsted Magazine
A group is working with Cleveland Magazine to develop the slug list for the magazine. Dale,
Jim M and Jim D will provide content on the historical stories. The city is waiting for editors
to determine how many pages of content will be available to finalize the topics. It is
important that event dates be established early to be included in the magazine.
d. Town Planner Calendar - dates in by October 8
High school art students are contributing art to the calendar based upon a Dale Thomas book.
Dates must be submitted by October 8 to be included in the calendar.
e. Merchandise
Carrie reported that the merch group is proposing to bulk purchase and sell four items: a
shirt, a travel mug, a canvas tote, and a keychain that include the bicentennial logo. Designs
are required to price the items. The website will not be used to sell merchandise, but it will be
available at events, at city buildings and it inay be talcen on the road to other organization's
events for sale. Jeff suggested loolcing more closely into the possibility of using online
providers as a way of providing more o.ptions to consumers.
£ Print media
Printed items will include a banner over Lorain at the parlc plus streetscape baruiers in lcey
intersections. A print item (palm card or rack card) containing an events list/calendar should
also be created. For specific events, sponsor recognition signs will be needed plus
promotional information. Print items also include the commemorative program/boolc that will
capture the entire year's worth of events.
g. Art competition
The use of contests to provide design or event substance for the bicentennial was discussed.
Bill explained the group did not want to take.on many contest efforts that require a lot of
committee work but that might not net desired results. However, the cotnmittee discussed
that some type of competition could be developed which would be open to many different art
media (music, fine art, printed word) to be infused into appropriate events... a winning song
could be played on stage at Summer in the City for example. JoAnn and Laura will create the
framework for such a competition.
h. Bicentennial branding & party package
Bill has created an application and guidelines for community organizations that wish to brand
their 2015 events with the bicentennial logo. Groups will be required to meet simple
guidelines and agree to use the logo only as permitted. Groups might also receive some
bicentennial merchandise to supplement their event. Kim will send out this information to
community groups in the coming weelc. Some events may be able to be included in the North
Olmsted Magazine if submitted soon.
