<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COIVIIVIISSION <br />MINUTES OF SEP`I'EMBER 4, 2014 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chairman Bralce called the special meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. at the North Olmsted Senior <br />Center. <br />Present: Bill Bralce, Sue Collander, Nicole McClain, Stephanie Procter, Lauren Suter <br />Absent: JoAnn DePolo, Annie Kilbane, David Wahl <br />Also Present: Cailey Bralce, Jaclcie Anderson, Molly Kelly, Becki Simons, Kim Wenger <br />liTEW BUSINESS <br />Holiday Marlcet & Tree Lit4htin? <br />The event will take place on Monday, December lst at the North Olmsted Senior Center, <br />Comrnunity Cabin and exterior spaces around the building in the park, including the gazebo. <br />Time is tentatively 6:00-8:30pm. <br />The Comrriission's goal is to improve upon previous Tree Lighting events by incorporating more <br />elements, both indoor and outdoor, in an open house type format that will appeal to the entire <br />community. Elements can include live and recorded music, arts and craft vendors, food vendors, <br />craft malcing and Santa. Animals could be incorporated... Bill knows a reindeer guy, Jaclcie has <br />information regarding dog sledding demos/rides, and horse drawn carriage/sleigh rides were also <br />mentioned. An outdoor bonfire could provide a festive ainbience and a s'more roasting location. <br />Some existing decorations could be used and new decorations could be purchased primarily for <br />exterior spaces, such as tree lights, greenery and bows. <br />Event Frameworlc <br />Craft vendors: Stephanie and Jaclcie will coordinate craft vendors who will be set up for the <br />event in the Activities Room. They will devise a room layout and simple vendor contract and <br />identify possible participants. Fees from vendors can defray the cost of the event. <br />Food: Annie and Beclci will identify possible food vendors who will sell snack items such as <br />sweets, nuts, and popcorn. These could be stationed both indoors and outdoors. Sue will plan for <br />an Arts Cominission hot chocolate stand which will serve free hot chocolate to attendees outside <br />on the patio. <br />Music: Kim will reach out to school music groups to gauge interest in participating in the event. <br />The gt•oup discussed past musical groups and other possibilities. Both indoor and outdoor music <br />is encouraged. The Community Cabin stage will be the primary music venue. Bill will provide a <br />PA system and coordinate logistics with the inusic groups. Recorded holiday music will play <br />between musical acts to avoid dead air.
