<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF JULY 16, 2014 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chairman Brake called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Bill Brake, JoAnn DePolo, Brad Doane, Lauren Suter, David Wahl <br />Absent: Nicole McClain, Annie Kilbane <br />Staff: Planning & Development Director Kim Wenger <br />Guests: Sue Collander; Cailey Brake <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Minutes were provided with the agenda. Mr. Doane moved, seconded by Mr. Wahl, to <br />approve the March 19, 2014 minutes, which passed 5-0. Mr. Doane moved, seconded by <br />Ms. Suter, to approve the May 21, 2014 minutes, which passed 5-0. Mr. Doane moved, <br />seconded by Mr. Wahl, to approve the June 18, 2014 minutes, which passed 5-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Summer in the City <br />Bill reviewed lessons learned from the first music in the park event. The next band will set up <br />facing west rather than south so that concertgoers can sit in the shade; a midway area will be <br />created between the Senior Center and vendors lined up parallel next to the baseball field. <br />Webers will be onsite early in the morning Sunday to set up as they have another event <br />elsewhere. Bill and David will be onsite around 1:00pm. They will set up tents and move the <br />banner from Lorain Road to the pavilion. David will bring a table for city info and cd sales. <br />Megan Zurkey is expected to arrive around 3:00pm. JoAnn agreed to emcee the event with <br />bullet points from Kim. Lauren set up a Facebook event on the Celebrate North Olmsted page <br />that can be used to invite friends. Some help is needed to break down after the event. <br />City Bicentennial <br />Kim reported that planning for the Bicentennial continued. The executive committee met to <br />identify event themes, and discuss issues such as budgeting, website and registration, fundraising <br />and publicity. Preliminary budgets will be requested from event planners by the end of August. <br />Sponsorships will determine levels of spending and required city contributions. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />2014 Homecoming <br />August 22 at North Olmsted Park - Show Your Colors <br />The City's Big Tent Event on August 22 will be used to promote the Go North Olmsted <br />initiative. The Arts Commission role will be to make the event more fun and creative, through <br />decorations, music, art or entertainment. Some ideas were to have a fun and easy craft, provide
