live or prerecorded music, create a feature entryway with fabric and/or balloon arch, have fun
food and entertainers. The group decided pre-recorded music would be best as background; Bill
will handle music, JoAnn will supply some tunes. Reusable bags can be purchased that could
carry a Go North Olmsted sticker and/or be decorated as a craft project. A coloring page could
be considered. Lauren is researching bags and cost along with fabric for an entryway. Kim will
have the mayor's office handle food and balloons. Bill and JoAnn will investigate a balloon
artist and face painter. The Commission should keep their expenses within about $500 for the
event.
COMMUNICATION
Master Plan update - Go North Olmsted
The next community meeting for Go North Olmsted will be Thursday, July 31 at John Knox
Church starting at 7:OOpm. The event, What Do YOUThink? Workshop, will be a significant
opportunity for public input into the planning process, where attendees will react to value/goal
statements and work in small groups to identify strong and weak places in the community.
Groups will dive deeper into the issues of the community. All are invited to attend.
Commission vacancies
The Commission can have up to 11 members and there are currently 7. Especially as the
Commission executes the plan for the Bicentennial, it would be highly useful to have more active
members as part of the group. Visitors Sue Collander and Cailey Brake introduced themselves
and gave some information on their background and interests. Kim explained the process for '
mayor appointments and Council approvaL
Olmsted Festival of the Arts
Bill said that the Festival is looking for volunteers to help the day of the event. He circulated a
sign-up sheet and asked members to recruit additional volunteers as they were able. Interested
people should contact Julia Schumann.
ADJOURNMENT
With no fu er business the meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
G
Bill Brake K'mberly Weng
Chair Director of Planning & Development
Approved: 9 _ 17,0 + t J
