NEW BUSINESS
2014 Homecoming
August 22 at North Olmsted Park - Show Your Colors
The City's Big Tent Event on August 22 will be used mainly to promote the Go North Olmsted
initiative related to the master plan update. There will be maps and exhibits and the opportunity
for public input, with cominittee members and consultants present. The Arts Commission can
play a supporting role, by helping with the creative aspects, such as decorations, limited
entertainment and simple snacks. The Show Your Colors theme will be infused into the event
with the City's logo colors in helium balloons and other decorations. Shaved ice with various
colored flavorings could be a possible snack. The master plan committee will do much of the
organizing of content for the event, but the Arts Commission can help to make it more fun and
engaging. Much of the July meeting will be focused on this subject.
COMMUNICATION
Master Plan undate - Go North Olmsted
The next community meeting for Go North Olmsted will be Thursday, July 31 at John Knox
Church starting at 7:00pm. The event, What Do YOUThinlc? Workshop, will be a significant
opportunity for public input into the planning process, where attendees will react to value/goal
statements and worlc in small groups to identify strong and wealc places in the community.
Groups will dive deeper into the issues of the community. All are invited to attend.
Commission vacancies
The Commission can have up to 11 members and there are currently 7. Given the workload
related to the upcoming Bicentennial, it would benefit the group to recruit some additional
members. Bill and Kim will reach out to the Commission and encourage members to identify
potential candidates who could be invited to the July meeting to learn more about the group and
its duties. Certain slcill sets might be specifically sought.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business the meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
i?
Bill Bralce Kimberly Wenger
Chair ' Director of Planning & Development
Approved: ? /&Z/e
