The
group felt that, especially in the first year, the bands should play mostly familiar music rather
than original music. They should be family friendly and represent diverse music types. The
Commission should also be sensitive to cost for this new event. Based upon these criteria, the
Commission will approach Johnny and the Wingmen and Megan Zurkey for the first two
performances. The third band could be Adam's Ale or Charlie in the Box. Chris Heben could
possibly emcee the events and open for the various acts. The group also discussed the need to
solicit sponsorship to reduce cost and identified numerous ways in which sponsors could be
recognized. Lauren had researched promotional products and found they cost about $1 apiece
plus setup. Other options were brainstormed. T-shirts in limited quantity could be considered as
well as beach balls to make the atmosphere more festive, which would be lower cost.
David will contact the first two bands and book them. Bill will research copyright issues and
costs associated with having cover music. Lauren will put together a draft sponsorship flyer
based upon information provided by Nicole. Kim will develop a prioritized list of businesses to
contact regarding sponsorship; she and Bill will approach them. Annie and Coletta will handle
food vendors. '
