Bicentennial Upclates
Ms. Wenger said the celebrate site will be continued and received a good data base for emailing
events and other notices. She is working on a yearbook for those attending the volunteer event
which is being held in January. The yearbook will recap all the years' events held. The book will
include some of Mr. Dubelko's writings relating to the Stearns and Coe family as well as a few
of his this day in history posts. Landmarks did a great job bringing together the educational
aspect of the bicentennial year. The commission will need to continue discussions on how to
continue the momentum into future years even if it's just an anniversary for a structure or place.
It would be nice to hold an informal Landmark presentation at the event covering the history of
the structure or place. She hopes the commission has the opportunity to continue to do more
educational projects.
Next year the commission can start to work on the centennial and uniquely North Olmsted
programs which were put on hold this year to concentrate on the bicentennial events. She is
proud of all the Landmarks achievements in the 2015 events as it was good teamwork. Mr.
Neville said he enjoyed all the bicentennial events and thank Ms. Wenger for all her hard work
making everything come together for the events. Mr. Schumann asked if Mr. Dubelko would be
continuing to post this day in history stories as he looks forward to the posts. Mr. Dubelko said
he has one more scheduled which he is trying to find a nice Christmas story to do. Ms. Wenger
said although this day in history major topics have been exhausted the commission can continue
to draw attention to the city's history to keep people intrigued.
Mr. Neville updated the commission on the Thompson house which is moving forward. They
now have an insurance policy on the house and are about to sign an agreement with the schools
to gain access to the home. The house movers were at the home and will be submitting their
proposal to move the home to Frostville Museum soon. Once the proposal is in place a detailed
plan will be submitted to the city so permits can be pulled. They believe that they will be in a
position to move the home prior to the 2016 deadline date.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business, the absence of Mr. Rerko was excused, and the meeting adjourned at
7:45 p.m.
David Neville, Chair
1-?
,/Oonna Rote, Clerk of Commissions""----
Date: l/ A / /6
