LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES FOR SEPTEMBER 21, 2015 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chairman Neville called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers and led the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Present: David Neville, Jim Dubelko, Tom Dubowski, Paul Schumann, Jim Morse, Duane <br />Limpert <br />Absent: Gretchen Schuler, Don Rerko <br />Staff: Director of Planning & Development Kimberly Wenger, Clerk of Commissions Donna <br />Rote <br />REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Dubowski moved, seconded by Mr. Schumann, to approve the Landmarks <br />Commission minutes of July 13, 2015 which passed 6-0. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />15-4205: North Olmsted Board of Education; 27351 Butternut Ridge Road <br />Representatives: attorney Christine Cossler, attorney Peter Zawadski, Bill Schurman of <br />Hammond Construction, Chris Smith and Jeff Henderson of TDA, North Olmsted City Schools <br />Director of Business Services Michael McDade <br />Mr. McDade said they were present to answer questions the commissioners have on the three <br />buildings which will be demolished. Mr. Dubelko asked why the old high/middle school was <br />being demolished. Mr. McDade said the middle school sits in the location the new school will be <br />constructed. Mr. Dubelko asked if there was any intent to preserve any of the fagade or other <br />unique items within the building to uphold the historical significance of the building. Mr. <br />McDade said there was a committee which consisted of TDA architects, Hammond Construction <br />and the school administration that looked at preserving as much as they could. <br />Mr. Henderson presented a timeline for the demolitions and for the new construction. They <br />would like to demolish the middle school and house in the fall of 2015 and start construction of <br />the new school by the middle of 2016. The entire process will take roughly three years to <br />complete. The school is no longer in use and the home has been vacant since the schools <br />purchased it four years ago. For the safety and security both structures will be demolished in <br />November. The administration building, high school and bus department buildings will continue <br />to be used until they are demolished. The stone entrance to the auditorium will be salvaged and <br />marked so it can be incorporated into the new design although it's not known where or how it <br />will be added. There will also be two interior doors salvaged and reused. <br />Mr. Neville asked if there were development plans showing the architectural style of the <br />proposed building.
