home. They discussed the presentation topics for the events program inviting neighboring
owners, city staff, and officials and having the Mayor present the plaque. Talk of possibly
running the short film written by Mr. Seltzer at homecoming was suggested. They feel a target of
20 to 30 participants would be a successful event. Mr. Neville said the committee for the Knight-
Biddulph home still needs to meet to discuss a ceremony. Ms. Wenger.noted members of the
Biddulph family have made contact with the office to discuss donating family photos and
perhaps attending a meeting to talk about the Biddulph history.
2015 Bicentennial Updates -
Ms. Wenger said facts from this day in history were inigrated into the timeline on Celebrate
North Olmsted. Mr. Dubelko asked if there are statistics for indicating how many people are
accessing the website and Ms. Wenger said she would ask the web designer if there is a way to
send her an update on the traffic/visitors to the site. The committee sends out emails and they can
see the traffic or clicks for what links the readers are clicking on in the emails.
Mr. Neville said he will set a committee meeting for the display cases at the mall and meet at
Frostville to view items. The committee for the historical tour met and has worked out a route
and a time limit of 15 minutes for each stop. He will follow up with committee members who
said they would write short skits as none have been submitted.
Mr. Dubelko said he would lilce to work with SITES students to collect oral histories of North
Olmsted seniors. Ms. Wenger said she will talk with the school about interviews which were
done in the past. She thinks there would be more success with audio interviews then video. Mr.
Schumann said Jeff Zullo may know where the interviews which were recorded are. Ms.
Wenger said she would contact the school to see if they could have copies or view what the
school has. Mr. Dubelko said he has been in contact with Jenny Berman who is the daughter of
North Olmsted's first police chief George Christinan. In speaking with her she has great
memories to share. She said the developer who first platted lots on Andrus and Whitethorn
couldn't sell the lots so he offered free lots to North Olmsted graduating students in 1946 or
1947. At that time it was common for students graduating to get married take the free lot and
invest in building a house. Mr. Dubelko said he came across in his research an article which
suggested North Olmsted had a slogan which was "Were Flowers Grow." Mr. Schumann said
the city has a historic photo with that slogan on the North Olmsted entrance signs.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business, Mr. Morse's and Mr. Rerko's absences were excused and the meeting
adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
i
: . j?
j, " •
David Neville, C air
Date: 1?
???/ ?S
