the owners visit the cou.nty archives to look at tax appraisal cards of the 50's and 60's, as most of
them have photos of the homes attached. The homeowners could research their address as well as
past owners of the home. Ms. Grobelny submitted her application and Mr. Neville said a member
of the commission would be in contact with them.
Mr. Limpert asked if the city recognized century homes. Mr. Schumann said in the historic
recognition program homes are recognized which are 75 years or older. The term century home
is a term realtors started and is now a common term but isn't related to any historic recognition
program.
Mr. Neville said he would touch bases with Ms. Herman as her home was built for the son of the
first settler in North Olmsted.
Ms. Wenger said it inight malce sense to have tips on the commission's webpage for homeowners
who would like to research the history of their home. Mr. Dubelko said he would submit a list he
created for the Cleveland Historical which included links.
Mr. Schumann moved, seconded by Mr. Morse, to provide recommendations and linlcs on
researching ones home on the commission's webpage, whieh passed 7-0.
COMMiJNICATIONS
Lnndmark Recognition
Seltzer and Knight-Biddulph landmarlc plaque ceremonies
Ms. Wenger said plans remain unresolved for both landmark plaque ceremonies, whether to
include them in the historic tour or plan them as standalone events. Mr. Neville said the Knight
Biddulph home was not on the tour and the inclusion of the Seltzer ceremony should be up to the
owners. Mr. Morse said he was neutral on the topic as having the ceremony with the tour may
draw more people to the tour, but there is also the argument that it should be an independent
event for the home being recognized. Mr. Neville felt the tour should be separate which may be
useful in advertising the historical tour. Ms. Wenger said the commission should form a
subcommittee to work out all the details and the office would support the committee once the
dates are set. Mr. Schumann reviewed the ceremony which was held for the Biddulph home and
felt it would be a good lead into the tour and aslced the date of the tour. Mr. Neville said the tour
is scheduled for October 11, 2015, so the ceremonies should be prior to the tour but not so far
apart that the connection is lost, perhaps around Labor Day Weelcend. Mr. Morse asked if it
would be possible to have the old city bus at their home and perhaps have a mock mayor's court.
Mr. Limpert, Mr. Neville and Mr. Morse will be on the committee and Mr. Limpert will arrange
the meeting. Mr. Neville asked that once a meeting is set that the home owners and Mr. Richner
be invited to the meeting, and Mr. Schumann asked to be included as well.
2015 Bicentennial Updates
Ms. Wenger said website updates continue including new Inspire stories. There was discussion
of creating a timeline in Educate using facts froin This Day in History.
2
