Ms. Wenger suggested the commission recognize 50 and <br />100 year events on the bicentennial timeline. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Landmarlc RecoLinition <br />Planning for Seltzer and Knight-Biddulph landmarlc plaque ceremonies <br />Ms. Wenger said the plaques were in the process of being fabricated and asked how the <br />commission wanted to hold the ceremonies. The commission discussed the merits of tying the <br />ceremonies in to the historic tour versus a stand alone event earlier in the year. Ms. Wenger said <br />the coinmission could have a subcommittee to plan the event and the staff would be available to <br />support them. Mr. Morse thought it would be good to have the ceremonies part of the tour of <br />homes. Mr. Dubelko said when a home is plaqued the owner doesn't have to open their home. <br />There can be a ceremony outside the home sometime in the spring between bicentennial events <br />which would provide a press boost for the tour. <br />2015 Bicentennial <br />Ms. Wenger said the bicentennial committee will not be having joint meetings in 2015 with the <br />Arts Commission. She aslced for more on This Day in History items for Facebook and suggested <br />researching the past 20 years for significant events in North Olmsted. The facts on the web <br />which received inore likes seem to be those which include pictures. <br />Ms. Wenger said the target date for the release of the North Olmsted Magazine is February 2nd. <br />Annie Dorsey of Great Northern Mall offered display cases not in use for bicentennial displays. <br />There is an opportunity for both Landmarks and the Olmsted Historical Society to showcase the <br />city, not only catching the interest of our residents but those visiting the mall from other <br />communities. Mr. Dubelko said until recently he hadn't realized the amount of artifacts available <br />at Frostville ranging throughout the area's history at the museum. Mr. Neville and Mr. Dubellco <br />would discuss the opportunity with OHS. <br />Mr. O'Malley said the Commission is invited to host/sponsor the historic tour. The event is <br />scheduled for October 11 and will include visiting six locations at the three hour event. The <br />locations chosen are Springvale, Old Town Hall, Frostville Museum, and select homes within the <br />historical district, as well the Seltzer home and the Unitarian Church. He has spolcen with school <br />officials who said they have two spirit buses which could be used and the City's fleet manager <br />said he could provide a driver for the green and orange city bus. The police department will <br />provide auxiliary officers for Frostville. The opening location will be Frostville Museum. He <br />was thinking as there could be individuals who chose to only visit specific locations the buses <br />could run as needed, but a tour guide for each bus is needed. He was thinking the high school <br />drama club or pover Players could be character actors on the buses giving the tour. Frostville <br />will be manned by Frostville and he would like to see Landmarks Commission run the historical <br />district as they see fit. He hopes to have the Mayor and City Council staff Old Town Hall. The <br />schools are a vital partner as their alumni have photos, history and could generate attendance by <br />2
