PR/Publicity
Lauren has designed streetscape banners, which will be installed throughout the city, ideally at
more locations than the current banners. Lauren made three designs, one with each of the major
sponsors listed. She also designed a horizontal banner to hang over Lorain Road at the park.
Discussion was had whether the 3 foot by 90 foot specification in the city code was the right
proportion. Bill will research banner dimensions. Kim will talk to Service about the width of the
road. [Note: Roads foreman Dave Demaline reported post-meeting that the road width in that
location is 56 feet. He recommended a banner in the 30-35 foot range.]
Inspire features will be updated every few weeks. Sue's feature on JoAnn's gallery will be
posted this week, Stephanie's next interesting people feature will be posted next week.
Information on merchandise will also be posted. Kim continues to see new subscribers to the
email service through the website and from emails gathered during events. The group discussed
how to engage more people using social media and how to improve the reach of Celebrate on
Facebook. .
Kim said an area business specializing in marketing and communications contacted the city
about helping with the bicentennial. Kim thought a niche so far unexplored was video. The group
talked at length about the possibilities of video which could be used to promote the bicentennial
generally and/or events specifically. Kim will see if using a professional company would be
feasible from a cost perspective. Jeff will help develop direction, content, tone, etc.
Financial Report
Kim handed out a financial summary broken down by event. Budgets are still needed for a
number of events: arts showcase, historical tour, musical, bikecentennial, etc. She needs
estimates, even guestimates, by the end of the week as the budget will be presented to Council
the following week. Bill will take the expense and revenue summary and put it into a proper
budget format.
There are no bicentennial events planned in March. Kim suggested trying to organize another
dining to donate type fundraiser for awareriess and additional financial support. Possibilities
include Chipotle, Chick fil A, Macaroni Grill and Bob Evans. Bill will call various
establishments this week to determine if any have availability in March. Jeff cautioned against
the week before Easter (last week of March) which is spring break for students.
NEW BUSINESS
Mavor's Art Show '
The Mayor's Art Show will run the month of April with the reception taking place on April 15,
2015 from 6:00-7:30PM. This event will replace the April Arts Commission meeting. JoAnn has
been in contact with the schools about the event. The format will be much the same as last year,
with art around the building, music, refreshments and certificates for students along with raffle
prizes. JoAnn needs a hand collecting raffle prizes. Polaris pastry arts students will donate a
large tray of baked goods for the event. City and school leaders will be invited to attend. Kim
will prepare a press release for March.
