APP15-2651: Sikora BuildinIZ; 23755 Lorain Road: .
Proposal consists of a ground sign and the following variance is requested. A 12 ft. variance for
side yard setback; code requires 20 ft., applicant shows 8 ft., Section 1163.27(b).
The oath was administered to architect Brad Kershaw. Mr. Kershaw said his client would like to
replace the existing wooden ground sign with a new masonry ground sign. The existing ground
sign has rotted and needs to be replaced. The new sign will have spaces for the building tenants,
and the material to be used is a mixture of tan briclc. They would lilce to install the sign in the
same location as the one being replaced to ensure vehicle visibility is not hindered. Also, existing
electrical is available as are the landscape lights. Due to the size of the lot, placement of a
ground sign is limited. Ms. Rudolph aslced how much larger the new sign would be and Mr.
Kershaw said the sign will be smaller than the existing ground sign. Mr. Russell said he had no
objections. Ms. Rudolph aslced how many tenants were in the building and if they would each be
listed on the new ground sign. Mr. Kershaw said the sign will accommodate up to four lines.
Ms. Rudolph said the proposed sign will not adversely impact neighboring sites. Mr. Allain said
if the sign was placed to code it would be placed within the line of sight triangle. Due to the
nai7owness of the lot the variance is warranted. Mr. Papotto pointed out the neighboring site is a
power station and would not be affected by the request.
Ms. Bellido moved, seconded by Mr. Papotto, to grant APP15-2651: Sikora Building of
23755 Lorain Road a12 ft. variance for side yard setback; code requires 20 ft., applicant
shows 8 ft., Section 1163.27(b) whfch passed 5-0.
ADJOURNMENT
With no fiirther business, the meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
? n
??
