5. A variance for a canopy sign projecting more than 2 inches above a canopy and
extending closer than 4 inches to the side edges of a canopy (east elevation canopy),
Section 1163.29(b).
Motion passed 5-0.
16-5356; Millennium Place; 25225-25249 Countrv Club Blvd
Representative: Jeff Gibbon, Vocon
Proposal consists of signage. Zoning is Mixed Use District A.
The following variances are requested:
1. A variance for 4 additional ground signs.- Code permits 2, applicant shows 6, section
1163.27(a).
2. A variance for 4 additional wall signs (Millennium 1). Code permits 1 per building plus 1 for
each building unit; applicant shows 10 signs for 6 building units, section 1163.28(a).
3. A variance for 4 additional wall signs (Millennium 2). Code permits 1 per building plus 1 for
each building unit; applicant shows 5 signs for 1 building unit, section 1163.28(a).
Mr. Aspery said the applicant is requesting sign variances for the proposed Millennium Place
rebranding effort at Great Northern Technology Park. Variances are requested for number of
wall signs for each building and number of ground signs for the site. Applicant shows 6 ground
signs, code permits 2. No single wall sign would exceed the height or area permitted. The
amount of signage proposed is about half that which would be allowed for the properiy in total.
The existing off-premise LaQuinta ground sign will remain in the short term. In the longer term,
it is planned that the sign would relocate onto LaQuinta property at the eastern curb cut, should a
break in the median on Country Club Boulevard occur to make it a full access point. The
proposed middle ground sign would say Millennium Place, and main tenant names would go on
the proposed ground signs at the ends of the property. The applicant wants to put small
medallion logos on the building cornices. Mr. Russell said an additional variance would be
required to put a ground sign in the 35 foot hazard triangle. Mr. Papotto clarified that future
tenant signage would be considered at a later date. There are 2 signs in the center area already.
Mr. Raig moved, seconded by Mr. Allain, to grant the following variances for 16-5356;
Millennium Place; 25225-25249 Country Club Blvd, as amended:
1. A variance for 4 additional ground signs. Code permits 2, applicant shows 6, section
1163.27(a).
2. A variance for 4 additional wall signs (Millennium 1). Code permits 1 per building plus
1 for each building unit; applicant shows 10 signs for 6 building units, section
1163.28(a).
3. A variance for 4 additional wall signs (Millennium 2). Code permits 1 per building plus
1 for each building unit; applicant shows 5 signs for 1 building unit, section 1163.28(a).
4. Zoning is General Retail Business.
Variances to be determined.
