LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />1VIINUTES FOI2 NOVEMBER 14, 2016 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Mr. Neville called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers. <br />Present: Tom Dubowski, Jim Morse, Duane Limpert, Jim Dubelko, David Neville, Gretchen <br />Schuler <br />Absent: Paul Schumann <br />Staff: Planner James Aspery, Administrative Assistant Nicole Rambo-Ackerman <br />Mr. Dubowski moved to excuse Mr. Schumann frcm the meeting, motion passed 6-0. <br />REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Limpert moved, seconded by Mr. Dubowski, to approve the Landmarks Commission <br />minutes of July 18, 2016 as revised, motion passed 6-0. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Commissioner IDs <br />Mr. Aspery reminded the commissioners that they need to contact Stacey Berkley to get IDs <br />issued to have while looking at homes. <br />Centennial Home Program <br />Mr. Dubelko reviewed his latest research regarding Maple Ridge cemetery where he was able to <br />find prominent owners from his Clague Road research. Mr. Limpert stated that he was having <br />trouble confirming dates prior to 1960. Commissioners reviewed ways to determine age of <br />homes, including the County Archive records to review increases in property valuations. Mr. <br />Morse confirmed that the County Auditor's site was not accurate for the houses he checked that <br />said they were built between 1915 and 1920. Mr. Dubelko reviewed the process for comparing <br />the 1903 and 1920 maps to narrow down the homes built in that period. Discussed accuracy of <br />available maps and data. Discussed using deed searches to determine property values. Mr. <br />Aspery reviewed the list of homes that have been researched so far, 33 are eligible and 19 were <br />razed. <br />Mr. Aspery reviewed the paperwork to be used for the Centennial Home Program, including a <br />self-reporting application, certificate, plaque design, press release, and a letter to qualifying <br />homeowners. Mr. Neville believed homeowners should have an opportunity to provide evidence <br />showing their home qualifies for the program. Mr. Morse agreed and pointed out the <br />discrepancies found in the information available. Mr. Aspery suggested distributing the <br />information electronically or through mailings. Ms. Schuler suggested distributing information <br />via Community Council also. Mr. Aspery stated that 5.5 inch x 8.5 inch plaques cost <br />approximately $125 to $150.
