identified other properties for consideration. Any amendments would have to be approved by
City Council.
Centennial Home Program
Mr. Neville stated that it does not appear that any of the existing houses on Burns are over 100
years old. Mr. Dubowski asked about house effective year versus the built date on the auditor's
site. Decided that the date should be based on the first time the house was built on the land. Mr.
Morse suggested using a deed search to figure out when the house was built. Mr. Morse asked
about a garage counting for the program and the commission decided that only homes count. Mr.
Dubelko stated that the 1903 and 1920 maps were very helpful in narrowing down the homes
that were built in that timeframe. Tax books at the County Archives are very useful also. The
year the tax increase shows up, the structure was built the prior year.
Heritage Home Program
Ms. Wenger stated that the Cleveland Restoration Society has had the program for a while and
recently was extended to the surrounding suburbs. Council interest spurred an inquiry into the
program which has been extended to any home 50 years old or older, extending the possible
reach to over 6,000 homeowners. The City will take part in a trial period beginning in July
running through the end of the year. The program encourages house preservation which will not
counter the historic preservation initiative of the Commission. Mr. Morse pointed out that the
HELP program is also available to residents.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business, t e meeting adjourned at 8:38 p.m.
?V e
•
David Neville, C air Nicole Rambo, Administrative Assistant
Date:
