CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF AUGUST 16, 2017 <br />6:30PM <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Annie Kilbane, Jackie Anderson, Laura Simna, Janelle Zauner, Lauren Suter <br />Absent: Leah Rogalski Davis <br />Staff: Planner James Aspery <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Annie moved to approve the Arts Commission minutes of July 19t' 2017, seconded by Laura. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Event Recap - Salutations in the Sun, August 5 <br />Jackie and Laura shared their thoughts on the third yoga event, stating that they were very <br />pleased with the instruction, turnout and weather. The instructors were well-equipped for the <br />large crowd, with an estimated 100 people attending the class. The estimated total turnout over <br />the June, July and August events is over 200 attendees. Given this continueci success, the group <br />agreed that the September 2°d event is a worthwhile endeavor. James will work on providing a <br />handout to offer all attendees containing information on the Commission and upcoming events. <br />ONGOING BUSINESS <br />Westside Flea and Frostville Farmer's Market <br />It was agreed by all to consider attending the September 23rd Westside Flea and potentially a <br />Frostville fall event. Janelle suggested that the Commission participate at this year's Pumpkin <br />Festival if it is open to community groups. James will send aboodle'poll to,gauge Westside Flea <br />availability. ` <br />2017 Work Plan Discussion <br />Summer in the City - August 20 <br />Laura and James confirmed that Kristine Jackson, a longtime performer around the Cleveland <br />music scene, is still set to play the August concert. She will be bringing her full band and <br />performing her blues-influenced songs. James confirmed that the Pierogi Pantry and Gee Gee's <br />Kettle Corn will be serving food at the concert. <br />"Be Our Guest": An Afternoon of Tea and Trumpets- Sunday, September 10, 2: 00-4: OOPM, St. <br />Clarence <br />James confirmed the Commission's contributions to the event as providing event funds and <br />staffing a craft table. The Education Foundation is providing the general organization and craft <br />supplies, but Commission members will be needed to run the table. James will send a Doodle <br />poll to confirm attendance.
