Jackie moved to approve event funds up to $1,000, seconded by Annie. Motion passed
unanimously.
October Storytelling
It was agreed by all that due to September's increased schedule, low membership and impending
Noel planning, all planned October events will be cancelled until further notice. There is the
potential for a pop-up event if clesired, but the Work Plan should be updated to reflect a scaled-
back month.
Yeterans Tribute
After a group discussion of activity or programming ideas, it was determined that the
Commission will provide local primary schools with art supplies to assist their Veterans Day
craft activities. Lauren and Janelle will reach out to their respective contacts and report back at
the September meeting.
North Olmsted Noel - Decerreber 3
Commission members selected their preferred tasks and discussed details related to each area.
The group agreed that the core event components are worthwhile, but changes will likely come
about as work begins. James will send out a follow-up email to confirm these details.
2017 Work Plan Discussion
Jackie led the group in a discussion regarding Commission membership. She expressed her
concern over the low number of current Commission members and stated her desire to be more
active in attracting new members from within the North Olmsted community. It was agreed by
all that adding more Commission members is important to ensure that the Commission remains
diverse, creative and effective. Widespread advertising was also suggested as a way to ensure
that Commission membership is made available to anyone who is interested and qualified.
Janelle suggested that the Commission host a designated "open house" event to create a
welcoming atmosphere for interested persons to attend. As advertisement options are developed,
it was agreed that members would reach out directly to their peers to gauge interest.
ADJOURNIVYENT -
Wit no further busin , t adjourned at 7:51 p.m.
Lauren Suter, Chair James Aspery, Planner
Approved: 9/20 / 0
..
