CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COIVIIi'IISSION <br />MINUTES OF OCTOBER 18, 2017 <br />6:30PM <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Jackie Anderson, Annie Kilbane, Janelle Zauner, Lauren Suter, Leah Rogalski Davis <br />Absent: Laura Simna <br />Guests: Mary Gut, Jenny Taylor <br />Staff: Planner James Aspery <br />12EVIEW AND CORRECTION OF 1VYINUTES <br />Leah moved to approve the Arts Commission minutes of September 20t' 2017, seconded by <br />Janelle, motion passed unanimously. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Veterans Tribute - early November <br />Lauren said the Forest School art teacher is confirmed for Veterans Day crafts. Annie moved to <br />approve $100 for the purchase of craft supplies to be delivered to the Forest School Arts <br />Deparhnent, seconded by Leah, motion passed unanimously. Lauren said placemats will be made <br />by lst graders and bookmarks will be made by kindergarteners. She and James will work to <br />secure craft supplies in the coming week. <br />North Olmsted Noel - December 3 <br />Santa: The Fire Department is willing to have Santa ride in on a fire engine, assuming that they <br />are not away on a call. Mary suggested that a smaller City truck could suffice if need be. <br />Music: James said last year's brass band is returning this year for the same price of $700. The <br />seven members will be performing for two hours. Leah said that while her Pine School contact <br />had to decline the performance offer, she is in contact with the High School and Middle School <br />Music Department to see what may be available. <br />Vendors: Vendor forms have been distributed to local food and drink vendors, including <br />Crooked Kettle (kettle corn), The Bom (chocolates), Angie Obbish and her daughter (baked <br />goods), the Pierogi Pantry (pierogis) and Homemade by Hannah (cupcakes). There is also an <br />interest in providing hot cider at year's event, of which the community groups could potentially <br />organize to complement their activities. A food truck will be booked to provide entree offerings. <br />Hot Chocolate: Janelle has read the information on how to prepare the hot chocolate and coffee <br />station. Jenny volunteered her help during the event. James will coordinate with Janelle to <br />purchase supplies in the coming weeks. <br />Crafts: James confirmed that Beth Roshetko is still on board for a craft table- he will contact <br />them about potentially adding hot cider to their table. Girl Scout Troop 717 is also on board for a <br />craft table and bake sale. James expressed his hope that their crafts will lift the burden of crafting <br />from Commission members, as that typically took a great amount of effort. <br />Bonfire: Janelle confirmed that her Fire Department contact has received approval for the fire
