Old Town Hall
Ms. Wenger stated that the kickoff ineeting with the architect will be on Wednesday, with
various city staff. Historic preservation and building functionality will be the main challenges of
the project. At the end a complete set of construction documents will be ready to go out to bid.
Historic District Signage
Mr. Neville stated that meetings have taken place with consultants for the Historic District
signage project. Initial pricing estimates were included in the packet. Signs are proposed at
gateways and at the bike path entrance in addition to some landscaping. There was discussion
over appropriate signage at the new bike path connection at the high school-middle school
campus. Ms. Wenger was concerned about pedestrians being able to navigate the school property
to find the path from Butternut Ridge Road without engaging the school district regarding
wayfinding. Mr. Neville liked the signs that show some craftsmanship to complement the
district's character. Medallions may be installed on the signs in addition to banners along the
street. Ms. Wenger pointed out that not all of the proposed signs would need to be installed, but
could be done in smaller phases. She would like the commission to decide which signs would be
the highest priority to be installed initially. The wood sign design and the dark gray post color
would coordinate with other city signage. Mr. Neville believed the main entryway signage should be the priority since the current signs are deteriorated. Banners showcasing the
landmarked homes were suggested. Discussion regarding having the Service Department print
the banners to save on production costs. Mr. Limpert agreed with rolling the signage out in
phases so the budget is not affected too much at once.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:57 p.m.
David Neville, Chair
Nicole Rambo-Ackerman, Administrative
Assistant
Date: ? ? 02 6/
