1_.-- _ <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARTS COMMI5SION <br />MINUTES OF AUGUST 15, 2018 <br />6:30PM <br />ROLL CALL <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. in Council's Caucus Room. <br />Present: Jackie Chavez Anderson; Leah Rogalski Davis, Janelle Zauner, Jenny Taylor <br />Absent: Wilma Kepperley, Laura Simna, Annie Kilbane <br />Staff: Planner James Aspery <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Approval of June 20th and July 18'h, 2018 meeting minutes was postponed until September. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />North Olmsted Partv in the Park <br />The group shared their thoughts on the inaugural summer concert, agreeing that the event was a <br />success. Jackie thanked everyone for their work leading up to and during the event, noting that <br />the initial organization hurdles were worth the effort to host a successful event. James confirmed <br />that the event expenses totaled $2,155.25 and beer sales totaled $1,450 for a total event cost of <br />$705.25. It was estimated by the group the a couple hundred people attended the event. Leah <br />stated that the food trucks did well and suggested that the Commission seek to add another sweet <br />truck for the 2019 event. Janelle agreed with this comment, adding that it would help avoid <br />longer lines as the attendance increase. Jackie added that increased signage would benefit next <br />year's event. Other comments included the ease of warking with Fat Heads, the excellent sound <br />services provided by Ty Craemer and the desire to broaden musical acts to encompass a wider <br />variety of musical genres to appeal to a wider audience. It was agreed by all that the 2019 event <br />will be held on Saturday, July 27ffi. <br />Yoga in the Park <br />Jackie and Leah confirmed that 64 guests were counted at the event and attributed the slight <br />decrease in attendance to the heat and sun. Jackie stated that an earlier start time would not <br />change the presence of heat or sun during the class and preferred to move the class into the <br />Community Cabin in the event of another extremely warm day. It was agreed that the elass start <br />time and location would remain the same. Jackie and Leah added that a permanent banner hung <br />on the gazebo could advertise all yoga events and save members the hassle of setting the <br />Commission's pop-up sign at each event. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Chalkboard Sign <br />Leah confirmed that she will provide City staff with a drawing of the proposed sign before <br />supplies are ordered. The sign will be ready for use by this fall. <br />Citv Hall Art Gallerv
