BUILDING & ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES FOR THE MEETING OF JANUARY 8, 2018 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Vice Chairman Allain called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm in Council Chambers and led the <br />Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Present: Eric Allain, Bob Papotto, Ralph Mackey <br />Absent: Mike Raig <br />Staff: Law Director Michael Gareau, Jr., Assistant Building Commissioner Dan Russell, Planner <br />James Aspery, Administrative Assistant Nicole Rambo-Ackerman <br />BOARD ORGANIZATION <br />Mr. Mackey moved, seconded by Mr. Papotto, to table Chair and Vice Chair elections until <br />the next meeting, motion approved 3-0. <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Papotto moved, seconded by Mr. Mackey, to approve the Building & Zoning Board of <br />Appeals minutes of December 4, 2017, motion approved 3-0. <br />RESIDENTIAL APPEALS AND REQUESTS <br />18-10446; John Milligan; 6540 Cvpress Drive <br />Representative: John Milligan, owner <br />Proposal consists of a scalloped picket fence in the front yard. The property is zoned B-One <br />Family Residence District. The following variance is requested: <br />1. A 6 in. height variance for a fence located in the front yard; code permits a maximum of 30 <br />in., applicant shows 36 in., Section 1135.02(d)(2). <br />Mr. Aspery stated that the applicant is proposing to install a new scalloped picket fence in their <br />front yard with a peak height of 36 inches at the posts, requiring a six-inch variance for fence <br />height. Code permits a maximum fence height of 30 inches in a front yard. Mr. Milligan had a <br />contractor install a patio with three sides of fencing, which has posts that are higher than <br />allowed. Mr. Mackey complimented the owner on the improvement to their property. <br />Mr. Mackey moved, seconded by Mr. Papotto, to grant the following variance for 18- <br />10446; John Milligan; 6540 Cypress Drive: <br />1. A 6 in. height variance for a fence located in the front yard; code permits a maximum of <br />30 in., applicant shows 36 in., Section 1135.02(d)(2). <br />Motion approved 3-0. <br />COMMERCIAL APPEALS AND REQUESTS
