Commission Trainin?
Mr. Aspery stated that one of the goals in the 2018 Historic Preservation Plan is for the Planning
Department to organize trainings for Landmarks Commission members. City staff is working
with Elizabeth Cardarelli and the Cleveland Restoration Society to provide an informative
presentation on architecture in Northeast Ohio and North Olmsted in particular. The presentation
will be part of the Commission's June l lth meeting in Council Chambers. Mr. Neville asked if it
would be open to the public, Mr. Aspery stated that the training will be directed towards the
commissioners. Mr. Aspery would like trainings to be held quarterly or biannually.
Centennial Home Prolzram
Mr. Aspery said that a recommendation in the Historic Preservation Plan is to update and expand
the inventory of historical structures. The Commission should take steps to reinvigorate the
Centennial Home program and bolster historic recognition efforts in the City. A new round of
research should be conducted to identify any remaining homes built in or before 1915. Research
can be broken up among members by streets or quadrants to ensure a wider search. Eligible
homes should be contacted to receive recognition. A database should be kept recording all
nominated and verified Centennial Homes. This may start with a private database but should
eventually be made public and promoted. Interesting Centennial Home stories should be
collected and disseminated via City channels.
Historic District Man
Mr. Aspery stated that the commissioners should expect more information by the next meeting.
Chapter 165 Update
Mr. Aspery stated that the Planning Department will be looking into making improvements to
Chapter 165. Mr. O'Malley suggested the six-month moratorium be removed. Mr. Neville
wanted to make sure the commission could be flexible with applicants but still able to enforce
the rules.
Heritage Home Program
Ms. Cardarelli stated that over 50 people attended the information session on May 7t" and many
residents have scheduled site visits. Ms. Cardarelli reviewed the some of the program details and
will provide more program and loan statistics.
Gateways Plan
The Plan was approved by the Planning & Design Commission and staff will determine which
phase of the project to proceed with first.
Old Town Hall
Mr. Aspery stated that the proj ect will not be started in the near future.
ADJOURNIVIENT
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
