Ms. Wenger informed the Board that Planning Commission was looking for the Board to advise
wliat signs would be appropriate in size and proportion to the building. Mr. Ulewicz felt that
monument sign and the sign on the east side are too close to each other.
Mr. Crook said if the sign on the east side is to remain, it should be reduced in size. Mr. Morand
suggested possibly eliminating the Grill and Chill portion of the sign and only having DQ. The
neon light around the canopy was eliminated.
Mr. Ulewicz questioned where bike racks could be located. Mr. Morand indicated that maybe
they could be positioned in the sidewalk area on the northwest corner of the building between the
two buildings or the landscaped area in the front of the building.
Chairman Crook moved to approve Dairy Queen Grill and Chill with the following
recommendations:
1) Extend the curb and landscaped area to the south of the existing curb at the Lorain Road
entrance.
2) Have the owner investigate keeping the existing tree on the east side at the store front. If
it needs to be removed, have it replaced with another canopy type tree. .
3) Add to the landscaping plan more evergreens and year-round type plantings.
4) Add depth to the top of the EIFS fagade on east, south and west sides of the building.
5) A location for bike racks in the northwest corner of the new building
6) Wrought iron type fencing should be black in color in lieu of the anodized aluminum.
7) The DQ logo sign should be centered vertically on the east fagade and the Grill and Chill
portion should be omitted.
8) The north side sign was smaller than what was originally submitted. 54" is the revised
size. .
9) Modify the handicapped ramp and striping so that the ramp is built into the revised
curbing and the striping lines up with the handicapped parking space rather than stop bar.
J. Nader seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved.
ADJOURNMENT:
Chairman Crook adjourned the meeting at 6:55 p.m
eC..---.'.." 17- - Z.Z
Joh?krook, Chairman
C
+
_ Lois McNabb; Secretary
3
