CITY OF leTOlaT'H OI,MSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVI'Y'IES COMMISSION <br />HELD IN OLD TOWN I3ALL <br />SEPTEMBER 7, 2005 <br />MINi1TES <br />ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Garland called the meeting to order at 6:45 pm. <br />PRESENT: Chairman R. Garland, Commission members; B. Brown, G. Yustick, B. <br />Martindale, and F. Curry <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: Commissioner D. Frazier. <br />Prior to the start of the meeting Mayor O' Grady was present to administer the oath of office <br />to new Commission member Faye Curry. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />Mrs. Martindale requested a minor typographical change to page one of the minutes. <br />B. Brown moved to approve the August 3, 2005 minutes as corrected. G. Yustick seconded <br />the inotion which was unanimously approved. <br />III. NEW BUSINESS: <br />• Review of Dover Player's fall play <br />Mrs. Martindale advised that due to unforeseen circumstances there was a change in <br />directors. The first play will be "The Lottery"; and then two Twil'ight Zone plays will follow. <br />Play rehearsals start Monday, September 12, 2005. The clerk needs to be contacted to <br />extend the plays running dates through the first weekend of November. The director would <br />also like to book the last week of September and first week of October for additional <br />rehearsal time. Mrs. Martindale indicated that she would meet with the clerk to set up the <br />dates. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />• Update on finances for Art Show - Homecoming 2006 <br />Mr. Yustick reviewed that he spolce with Mrs. Donna Smeal about using the area under the <br />trees along the front of the park, however that would not be possible as the carnival use that <br />area for storage of their trailers. Mrs. Smeal advised him that they thought of having a <br />couple of art and craft tents setup, but Mr. Yustick as well as other board members did not <br />feel that would be adequate. Brief discussion of possibly using the area behind the senior <br />center as well as the recreation center ensued. Mrs. Brown indicated that she would look into <br />the possibility of using the grounds of the recreation center as a site for a future cultural art <br />festival. <br />• Continued update on art chosen for North Olmsted library.
