The last
performance will be the night before Halloween.
• Ugdate on fmances for Art Show - Homecoming 2006
Mr. Yustick passed out a flyer he designed to have to introduce the commission to the community.
The commission discussed what should be in the flyer and having the flyers at homecoming in the
city tent. The completed flyers will be tumed over to the clerk for forwarding to the commission.
Mrs. Brown and Mr. Yustick will work together on the fmal flyer to be passed out.
R. Ciarland moved to assign Mrs. Brown and Mr. Yustick the task of designing and printing flyers to
be handed out at homecoming. D. Frazier seconded the motion which was unanimously approved.
o Continued update on art chosen for library.
Mr. Yustick reviewed that the city was spending $50,000 on the art for the new library and personally
he thinks the art is average and the art will be placed in areas of the library were the average patrons
will not see the artwork. The only piece that will be seen is at the entrance to the library. Mrs. Srown
suggested that Mr. Yustick made a good suggestion at the last meeting to place the art work in the
open sections of the library so it can be seen. 1VIrs. Martindale asked if any of the artists were from
North Olmsted. Mrs. Brown indicated that she was not aware of who approved the artists, but she
does not think North Olansted had anything to do with choosing the art as it is a county [ibrary. Mrs.
Brown indicated that the artists have been chosen the group has no say in the artists they just get to
choose a specific number of pieces from each artist already hired. The artist chosen to paint the main
picture for the library has been hired to depict the original ox cart library in North Olmsted. She did
not believe that the artist accurately depicted the ox cart library and he was asked to accurately depict
the library. 1VIrs. Martindale voiced that she believed that as it was a North Olmsted Library and city
funds paying for the artwork the city should have had a say in the artists and work chosen. NIr.
Yustick and Mrs. Brown believed that everything seemed to be preplanned and they feel that the Art
Consultant Sally Julian chose artists she represents for the pieces to go in the library. Although Ms.
Julian has a lot of experience and a good reputation they hope that any additional art work placed in
the library comes from local artists. The library has agreed to use the wall to the right of the main
entrance for local art work from competitions including high school artists.
V. CO1ViNiUNICATIONS:
Commissioners briefly discussed open positions on the commission and the addition of more
members as well as a budget for 2006.
