She would like to lnow <br />if that in fact is tnae or not or if the location of the Y,aw I3epartrnent is part of the IVdaster Plan. <br />Mr. Frazier questioned if the commission wanted to support the schools levy efforts to <br />` upgrade the North Olmsted Middle school auditorium. Mrs. Martindale said she always <br />_•? voted for the schools and arts, but to officaally support their cause a ffiotion would need to be <br />made aud a vote taken. <br />? I Iave report about art chosen so far for librarv: <br />Mrs. Brown reviewed that a person was hired to purchase art work for the New Library. She <br />was not sure if the gerson ever worked on a libraxy t9efore, but did not think the art work <br />accurately reflected the prices pa.id for the work. At a meeting there vvere samples of each <br />artists work shown. A picture sampie of the a.rtwork commissioned for the entrance was to <br />incorporate the original ox cart. At a second meeting photographs were brought in for <br />additional pneces to be chosen. Four art pieces were selec#ed from wbat was available. The <br />next meeting is to have additional thnngs to choose fPOrn. giowever, the artists have already <br />been eommissioned to do the work. Mrs. Brown voiced a frustration over the amount of <br />money spent on the art and the fact that it should have reflected North Olmsted better. The <br />children's seetion is to have art work which would come from North Olmsted students. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />Contiaiued discussion regarding Dover Plaver's play "Hoiand of the Baslcervilles": <br />Mrs. Martindale said that she has the possibility of another direetor producing a play in the <br />fali however, if the Law Department takes over Old Town IIaIi the Dover Piayers would <br />have nowhere to perform. Therefore she is very interested in the discussions of the status of <br />Old Town Ha11. Commissioners discussed possibly inviting the Mayor to ameeting to <br />discuss Old T'own Hall, a budget to support tlie arts and other concerns. Mrs. Martindale <br />advised that the VJest Life & Sun Harold wauid be sent pictures of the actors and she spoke <br />on public radio announcing the play dates. The play would also be announced in the Plain <br />Dealer as well, but no further flyess would be distributed due to costs. <br />V. COMMUNIGATIONS: <br />Mrs. Brown reviewed the Saint Johns West Shore Art Festival brochure with the <br />comxnission. In addition to art being sold there are live performers and she thinks there is a <br />total of 8 entertainment booths. Mr. Frazier stated that Saint Johns was very civic minded <br />and had coratributed thousands of dolIars to the North Olmsted School calendar for 2004- <br />2005 school year. <br />VI. COMVII`d"TEE REPORTS: <br />Mrs. Martindale assigned Ivdr. Yustick the task of rneeting witli Finance Director Coffer to <br />discuss money and a line item account being established for Cultural Activities Commission. <br />Each member was assigned a person to contact to increase the commissions membership. <br />Mrs. 1Vdartindale requested Mrs. Brown oa Mr. Xustick desngm a brochiare for hoffiecoffiing <br />and she would have it printed out. <br />VI.
