NEW BIJSINESS: <br />Mr. Ulewicz questioned why North Olmsted did not ofFer a program for Iow interest loans. Mr. <br />Lang explained to the applicants that North Olmsted did not have programs for low interest <br />home loans for the restoration of lustorical hoffies currently. However he suggested there may <br />be, other incentives available through the City and encouraged the applicants to ask the Building <br />I3epartment. Mrs. Lord commented Landmarks has recommended the City join the American <br />Heritage Home Loan program a few times and would continue to do so. <br />1VIre & Mrs. Lveckel; 26863 Butternnt Ridge Road: <br />I'roposal consists of a request for a letter of appPOpriateness for vinyl siding. <br />1VIr. Lueckei wouid like to replace the existing vinyl siding on his home to a light gray vinyl <br />siding. Mrs. Lord questioned the age of the applicant's home. Mr. Lueckel stated the home <br />was built an 1878. T'he hoffie originally was womd siding with wade corner loard and is novv <br />corner board with vinyl sicling over it which is two different colors. He would like to use the <br />light gray vinyl siding to esthetically correct the home. The top peeks/gabies of the home will <br />have a different pattern of vinyl siding. He has peeled some of the siding baclc and seen some <br />rotting so he is not sure of the overall condition of the wood siding. The contaactor was hired to <br />remove the existing vinyl siding, the insulation and inspect the condition of the horne. He <br />iatencis to be present to address any repair ,issues that may arise. He suggested that the homes <br />historical structure had been destroyed when the gable roof and addition was added. He <br />suggested that he would not desiroy anythang tlat is under the siding for apossibie future owner <br />to try to restore, but it was not economically feasible for him to try to restoae the home. He <br />faarrrt}ser suggested that he d'ad not want to wait another month for a aRnliagg nor did he want to be <br />placed in the position of having to pa.int his home every 3 to 5 years. Mrs. Lord advised that the <br />value of the historical home vvoufld be gaeaYer with wood siding tlaem keepmg vmyl siding. Mr. <br />Schock strongly encouraged the applicant to get a quote to restore the wood sicling on the horrge <br />once the viaiyl siding is removed. He feit it was worth waiting a month to see what is found <br />under the vinyl siding. Mr. Barker asked the applicant numerous times if he would be willing to <br />paint his home iaastead of spding it. Mr. Lueckel answered "no", if the hoffie had not been <br />historically altered restoring the home might have been something he would have looked at but <br />that is not the case. Mr. Lang aequested that aii wood siding found to be gealing/damaged be <br />sanded and primed with an ail base primer to prevent any further damage. Mrs. Lord requested <br />that the window faames continue to be wrapped and not replaced. Mr. Lueekel agreed ta <br />address the daanage vaood sidiaig. He further irbdicated that the current appearance of the home <br />would be maintained using vinyl siding.
