Lang "yes".
Mr. & Mrs. Rodriauez; 26747 Butternut Ridge Road:
Proposal consists of a request for a letter of appropriateness for a 176 square foot covered porch
on back of home.
Mrs. Rodriquez reviewed #hat her home was purchased in 1987 and since that day they have
been working hard to restore their home to the petiod in which it was built which was 1900. In
fact they have also restored the interior of the home as well. The existing front porch was
repaired 12 years ago and at that time cedar was chosen for the railing and posfs with a
Douglas-fur flooring. They would now like to put the reaz porch on the back of the home which
would match the front porch. She noted tha.t there are existing French doors on the back of the
home which leads to nowhere. The roofing would be dimensional roofmg as was used on the
front porch as they have been unable to find a slate that matched their home. Mr. Schumann
voiced that he thought the materials listed as well as the design of the porch were era
appropriate.
P. Schumann moved to grant a certificate of appropriateness to 26747 Butternut Ridge Road for
a 176 square foot covered porch as submitted on the plans and which will match the front porch.
P. Bazker seconded the motion which was unanimously approved. "
Mr. & Mrs. Ulewicz; 26775 Butternut Ridge Road: Proposal consists of a request for a letter of appropriateness for additional bedrooms,
laundry/utility room, and 2 baths.
Mr. Ulewicz reviewed that his basement was originally the barn of the Rodriques home when it
was first built. He believes that the home was placed over the garage foundation in 1914. The
new roofline would be consistent with the existing roofline. All the existing windows on ttle
home aze casement windows and that would be continued. An existing window from the home
would be reused on the front of the addition. He could not find a ma.tch for the sandstone brick
and liked the look of stucco or cedar siding and has tried to pick a color that would work with
the two different sandstone colors. Mr. Schumanai questioned if the converted garage would be
addressed when the addition was added. Mrs. Lord advised that if the applicant was not sure of
the materials he may want to return as the materials must be listed in the certificate of
appropriateness. Mr. Uiewicz said he wouid use cedar planking on the garage & addition and
showed the color chosen. He voiced that he did not want to use a brick or brick like substance
that did not match the existing materials. He does not want the addition to stand out. Mr.
Schock questioned if the applicant would be willing to brick the east side and current garage of
the home. Mr. Ulewicz said due to the additions 2 foot overhanging the wood frame could not
support a brick load. Mr. Schumann said the overhang wa11 would require a steal lentil framing
to handle the brick load. The suggestion of speaking with Mr. Kula from KIA to possibly being
allowed to save and reuse the sandstone brick from the home scheduled for demolition took
place. Mr. LJlewicz advised that he would ask KIA for a sample of their sandstone but would
not want to use the sandstone unless it matched his existing sandstone block.
M. Davis moved to grant 26775 Butternut Ridge Road Mr. Ulewicz his permit requested for
additional bedrooms, laundry/utility room, and 2 baths on east front and east rear end of existing
home. P. Barker seconded the motion which was unanimously approved
COlYEMUNICATIONS:
Mr. Lang passed around communications not received in packets for commissioners to view.
2
