CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED PLANNIlVG CO1VIlVIISSION COUNCIL CHAMBERS THURSDAY, MARCH 10, 2005 7:30 PM 1. CAUCUS: II. ROLL CALL: Chairman Koeth called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. PRESENT: Chairman R. Koeth, Board Members: M. Yager, S. Hoff-Smith, W. Spalding, J. Lasko ALSO PRESENT: Plallning Director K. Wenger, Asst. Law Director B. O'Malley, L. McNabb, Planning Secretary ABSENT: T. Hreha III. COMMUNICATIONS: IV. NEW BUSINESS: Master Plan The proposed Master Plan was presented to the Commission for discussion. On February 23, 2005, the Master Plan Steering Committee voted to approve the draft Master Plan and send it to the Planning Commission for review and adoption. Chairman Koeth thanlced everyone for coming and to those that have participated. Ms. Wenger thanlced the inembers present representing the Master Plan Steering Committee as well as those from the administration in attendance. Ms. Wenger proceeded to present a Power Point presentation of the Master Plan (see attached). Following the presentation, residents came forward and expressed their comments and concerns. Jeff Sturgeon expressed that Ms. Wenger had done a nice job presenting the plan. He voiced concern that he would like to see the side streets protected from business growth. He said it seems lilce the City is encouraging businesses to move in and have the area take on a more commercial loolc. He asked the Commission if they feel this is the direction the City is aiming towards. He would rather see Lorain Road remain as the primary business area, rather than having it filter onto the side streets. In the future, he sees Clague Road from Lorain to Broolcparlc Roads being developed and Columbia Road from Lorain to Brookpark being developed as commercial. He would lilce to protect the residents from being wiped out by businesses. Ms Wenger informed Mr. Sturgeon that there will be no proposed conversions from residential to commercial on the east end of town.
