After meeting with Mr. Wendell, Mr. Suhayda made several changes to the previous landscape
plan. Mr. Suhayda indicated that he had not seen the report Mr. Wendell wrote and it now
appears that there are differences between what was discussed and what is written in the report.
One discrepancy is that Mr. Wendell suggested three blue spruces, however, the landscape plan
now indicates that there are two blue spruces. The day the applicant met with Mr. Wendell they
had no plans to install a fence, however, now one will be installed along with a tree being
eliminated. The fence will be from the mound to side of building. A 4' gate will be installed.
Mr. Spalding said the existing fence is falling over. To prevent this from occurring again,
footers will be put in prior to installing a new fence on the north side.
He said the dying arborvitae will be replaced. Mr. Spalding asked why the arborvitae stopped
10' back from the end of the building. Mr. Kula said the arborvitae went back to a previous
construction phase. Mr. Spalding likes the blue spruces because they are hardier. Mr. Spalding
aslced if any fencing or buffering will be put behind the building. Mr. Kula said there is only two
feet, which allows little space for maintenance of any kind. Architectural Review Board
recommended leaving the area as it is, as it is too tight. The applicant said they are receptive to
any ideas. The back of the building is painted concrete bloclc. Ten taxus plants are being lcept.
The recommended amount of taxus is twenty and the applicant said they have no issue with
planting that quantity.
Mr. Hreha wanted to clarify the three maple trees stated and asked if it should be three oak trees.
The existing trees that will be saved on the north property line should be fully identified. Mr.
Spalding said we need to see what will remain.? Ms. Hoff-Smith informed the applicant this is
the reason we need a full landscaping plan to clearly ideritify all the 'different things.
Mr. Spalding questioned the fence around the dumpster; as well as the open area between the
duinpster to the east and asked why it does not continue to the baclc of the property. Mr. Kula
said the fence will connect to the back of the b,uilding.
Due to the photometrics arriving late, this did not allow enough time for the Commission or staff
to adequately review them. Mr. Spalding again, informed the applicant that plans cannot be
submitted the night of the meeting. ;On the curb area between Lorain Road and the sidewalk, Mr. Lasko wanted some clarification on
the plan. The plan indicates brickscape between Lorain and Porter, however, in the fine print it
is indicated as concrete wallc, but also refers to grass. Mr. Suhayda said this was a misprint and
was inadvertently not removed.
Ms. Hoff-Smith asked the applicant if they are going to wrap the briclcscape on the small section
by Dewey Road to match up with the fence. ;Mr. Suhayda said this is going to remain grass and
sidewallc.
Mr. Spalding asked the applicant if there is a separate lot behind the service building. Mr.
Suhayda responded that there is a vacant parcel and it is landloclced.
.
3' `
