.CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />OLD TOWN HALL <br />MONDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2006 <br />7:00 PM <br />MINUTES <br />1. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman B. Lord called the meeting to order 7:00pm <br />PRESENT: L. Orlowski, T. Schock, T. Dubowski, P. Schumann, L. Thogmartin, J. Lasko, D. <br />Rerko. <br />VISITING: Assistant Law Director Bryan O'Malley <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />Mr. Rerko moved to approve the minutes with corrections for November 13'', seconded by <br />Mrs. Davis, which was unanimously approved. <br />III. OLD BUSINESS: <br />Certificate of Apuropriateness and Plaquing Forms and Procedure <br />The Commission reviewed the changes to the form, and made amendments to the proposed <br />new applications. The application fee was decided at $10 for a Certificate of <br />Appropriateness. Council has not yet approved the amount. <br />Mrs. Lord moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness forms with one change <br />as noted, seconded by Mr. Schock, which was unanimously approved. <br />IV. NEW BUSINESS: <br />2007 Meeting Calendar <br />Mrs. Thogmartin moved to approve the calendar for 2007, seconced by Mr. Dubowski, <br />which was unanimously approved. <br />V. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Mrs. Lord mentioned that the Commission received greetings from the Historical Society as <br />well as the Leeks, with whom she spoke to at the Homecoming event. <br />VI. COMMITTEE REPORT <br />Plaquing• <br />The Commission reviewed the new historical recognition application forms. Mr. Schock <br />noted the 100 years should be changed to 70 years as recommended age for a historical <br />recognition plaque. Mr. O'Malley made recommendations for clarification of plaquing <br />versus official landmarking. He also recommended that the program being outlined should <br />be submitted as a piece of legislation to create an ordinance. It could be included as part of <br />Chapter 165. Having the landmarking process put in an ordinance might provide more <br />leverage for receiving funds. Mr. Schumann added that some of the homes that are already <br />plaqued have been modified, such as architectural historical significance.
