y <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />OLD TOWN HALL <br />MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2006 <br />7:00 PM <br />MINUTES <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />B. Lord called the meeting to order at 7:09 p.m. <br />PRESENT: T. Schock, T. Dubowski, D. Rerko, P. Schumann, L. Thogmartin, B. Lord <br />ABSENT: L. Orlowski, J. Lasko <br />Visitors: Jesse Dolar, SITES student <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />Mrs. Lord moved to approve the August 14, 2006 minutes with correction, seconded by Mr. <br />Schock, which was unanimously approved. <br />Mrs. Lord moved to approve minutes for August 17, 2006, seconded by Mrs. Thogmartin, <br />which was unanimously approved. <br />III. OLD BUSINESS <br />Mr. Schumann and Mrs. Lord discussed the Homecoming event. Mrs. Lord spoke of the <br />homeowners of 2'rButternut Ridge. The couple expressed an interest in applying for a <br />Certificate of Recognition from the Landmarks Commission. The commission will see to it <br />that they receive the information. <br />The commission would also like to regroup and schedule another tour of North Olmsted, <br />including Frostville. <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />Mr. O'Malley spoke to the Commission regarding the application process for the Certificate <br />of Appropriateness. He clarified that the current application process may be updated to <br />ensure that the iriformation regarding the requested change will be submitted before the <br />applicant appears before the Commission. <br />Garv Stvles, 25655 Butternut Ridge Road: <br />Mr. Styles said his home was built in 1952, and originally it was wood siding. Mrs. Lord <br />reviewed the information from the Building Department. Mr. Styles was interested in <br />replacing the present wood siding with vinyl in an effort to improve the insulation of the <br />home. Based on the time his home was built, vinyl siding was not a material used in <br />construction. Mr. Schumann explained the importance of maintaining the era in which his <br />home was built and suggested that Mr. Styles research the possibility of aluminum siding as <br />an alternative. If aluminum was used in 1952, that would be more viable option. <br />Mr. Schumann moved to table Mr. Styles request for new siding; seconded by Mrs. <br />Lord, which was unanimously approved.
