CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />OLD TOWN HALL <br />MONDAY, JANUARY 09, 2006 <br />MINUTES <br />1. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Lang called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. <br />PRESENT: J. Lang, L. Orlowski, T. Schock, M. Davis, P. Schumann, and L. Thogmartin <br />ABSENT: Members; B. Lord, D. Rerko and R. Bohlmann <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />III. RECEPTION OF VISITORS: <br />SITES Student Drew Tedick <br />Mayor O' Grady was present to conduct the swearing in ceremony of reappointed <br />Landmarks members Paul Schumann and Thomas Schock. <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />M. Davis moved to defer election of officers and appointments to committees to their <br />February meeting. T. Schock seconded the motion which was unanimously approved. <br />IV. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />• Oberlin Heritage Center flyer <br />• The Alliance Review November/December 2005 <br />• Echoes January/February 2006 <br />Mr. Lang reviewed that he submitted the commissions proposed 2006 budget to Planning <br />Director Wenger and she advised him that the budget was a little oversized and would be <br />lowered to an appropriate amount. He was not sure if all their memberships were budgeted <br />for renewal. He suggested that as the Ohio Association of Historic Society and Museums is <br />worded that the membership is a donation and not a set dollar amount he would like to defer <br />renewing the membership until they know what dollar amount they will have for <br />membership renewals. <br />Mr. Schumann reviewed that the steeple was ready to be put back atop the church and if <br />weather permitted they would be raising the steeple Saturday, January 21, 2006 or Saturday, <br />January 28, 2006. However the ground needs to be completely frozen or totally dry to make <br />sure the crane doesn't sink into the ground. <br />V. COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Mr. Schumann advised that the current owner of the Stearns home allowed him to enter the <br />home to try to assess the original section of the home. He took pictures of the outside of the <br />home as well as the basement. He was very imprested with the originality of the basement. <br />It is an old dugout basement, with fieldstone and the floor joints of the first floor and the
