Status: Some progress has taken place, through future space pianning for City Hall <br />and the Recreation Master Plan. <br />c. Assess existing vacant lands or structures within the City for their potential as future <br />community facitity sites. <br />Time Frame: Mid range <br />Primary Responsibility: Administration <br />Status: Some progress, particularly through the Recreation Master Plan and the <br />evaluation of the City's Industrial Park property for future viability. <br />d. Seek federal and state funding sources to assist in maintaining the infrastructure and <br />community facilities. Examples couEd include State Issue 2, CDBG, and EPA funding. <br />Time Frame: Ongoing <br />Primary Responsibility: Administration <br />Supporting Parties: CDBG Citizens Advisory Committee, Engineering <br />Status: In progress; the City has had success obtaining funding to assist with many <br />road projects including Clague, Lorain and SR 252. <br />e. Improve pedestrian and bikeway safety by installing crosswraiks and self-actuated <br />pedestrian walk signals at major traffic intersections such as Great Northem Boulevard, <br />Brookpark IRoad, Columbia Road and Mastick Road. <br />Time Frame: Long range <br />Primary Responsibility: Administration <br />Supporting Parties: Engineering, City Council <br />Status: No progress. <br />f. Cooperate with the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway <br />Administration in their efforts to develop an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) in order <br />to coordinate the City's traffic control systems with regional systems in an effort to adjust <br />traffic flow during accidents, route closures or other related incidents. <br />Time Frame: Long range. <br />Primary Responsibility: Engineering <br />Status: No progress. <br />g. Implement sanitary sewer extensions to service areas consistent with the recommendations <br />of the Northeast Ohio Area Coordinating Agency (NOACA) in order to provide adequate <br />sanitary sewer senrice for the entire service area. <br />Time Frame: Long range. <br />Primary Responsibility: Service, Engineering, Waste Water Treatment <br />Status: Some progress; the City has been involved in planning for the Olmsted <br />Township/Olmsted Falls JEDD (Joint Economic Development District). <br />5. Open Space & Recreation <br />a. Evaluate existing tree preservation standards for effectiveness in protecting wooded areas <br />and achieving sensitive development practices. <br />Time Frame: Short range <br />Primary Responsibility: City Forester <br />Supporting Parties: Planning, ARB <br />Status: in progress through Zoning Code update.
