Community Character & Image <br />a. Actively enforce the City's real property maintenance code for both commercial and <br />residential properties. <br />Time Frame: Ongoing <br />Primary Responsibility: Building <br />Status: In progress. The Building Department has taken a proactive role in property <br />maintenance, implementing a street by street system rather than a complaint-only <br />system. More can be done to educate residents about property maintenance <br />requirements. <br />d. Undertake discussions with the utility companies that erect overhead wiring to determine <br />how to reduce the number of above-ground utility poles and wires. <br />Time Frame: Ongoing <br />Primary Responsibility: Administration <br />Status: Some progress; the City is considering placing all utilities underground at new <br />Fire Station #2. <br />e. Identify focal point locations and implement designs for community gathering places <br />throughout the City. <br />Time Frame: Long range <br />Primary Responsibility: Planning <br />Supporting Parties: Planning Commission, ARB, Community Organizations <br />Status: Some progress related to the Streetscape Plan, Recreation Master Plan and <br />administration working towards gateway improvements. <br />8
