building for a permit, that eliminated the flower bed by the building. Around the monument
sign proposed are burning bushes, including juniper plants which are green all year around,
wliich will not grow up and block the sign.
Mr. Malone felt that the rationale was not reasonable based on the proximity of the plants, as
the landscape on the other side of the exit remained in place, with no consequences. Mr.
Malone recommended burning bushes on the north and south side of monument sign,
extending the beds, adding low growing perennials in addition to the juniper bushes to offer
seasonal color.
Commissioners agreed with Mr. Malone's proposal. Not only did the bed provide an
aestlietic benefit, it also functions as an important traffic control mechanism during the
exiting of the cars.
Mr. Lasko moved to approve, Laser Wash at 25054 Lorain Road, regarding
modifications to the approved site plan for the landscape area around the monument
sign, with the specif c recommendations to include burning bushes on the north and
south side of monument sign, extend the beds to go around tlae burning bushes, add
low growing perennials in addition to the juniper bushes to offer seasonal color. The
motion was seconded by Mr. Mahoney, whfich was unanimously approved.
Mr. Lasko moved to approve Laser Wash at 25054 I.orain 12oad, regarding deleting
the bed that vvould have been adjacent to the building next to the bay exit area, instead
allow the as built asphalt to remain. The motion was seconded by Ms. Meredith, which
was unanimously denied.
2. DrulZ 1Vlart; 24485 Lorain itoad (WRD 4)
Proposal consists of building renovations and a drive-through addition.
Ms. Wenger reported that the proposal consists of an update to the existing Drug Mart and
attached retail plaza. Two additions including a drive through and addition to the rear/
service side of Drug Mart are also proposed. Parking and circulation issues were raised with
the applicant, but they have not been satisfactorily addressed. No changes to parking lot
lighting are proposed. There will be recessed lighting in the soffit of the covered wallcways.
No sign package has been submitted, as was recommended. Based upon what is shown on
the elevations, sign variances will be required. The materials for the ground sign have not
been specified.
Mr. Conway stated that the parking has not been addressed, and the property lines have not
been established in the plans. He requires plans showing property lines and irrigation.
Mr. Collins noted that the plan lacks information in relation to utilities, stormwater storage,
and internal traffic circulation.
Mr. O'Malley stated that the Commission has a noted marked deficiencies to conduct the
review. The Commission has the autliority to direct the developer to provide consultation of
parking and traffic circulation.
2
