David Howe, architect, reviewed the Engineering Department's comments. Discount Drug <br />Mart would lilce to enlarge their building to accommodate additional storage and a drive <br />through. By using the stock room, they could then expand their sales floor. Mr. Howe said <br />that the parking is currently slanted, and that the suggestion of 90 degree parking would be <br />more efficient. As far as appearance, the wooden shakes would be removed, new asphalt <br />shingles would be applied, all of the other elements shown in the elevations would be added. <br />He presented the building materials and new roof materials. The stucco is close to the same <br />color as the Dairy Queen, so there would be compatibility between the buildings. <br />Mr. Malone requested the applicant to supply a comprehensive landscaping plan for the <br />entire site, including what was previously approved during the DQ review. <br />1!'Ir. Lasko moved to table the proposal for Drug Mart at 24485 Lorain Road, pending <br />the applicant's ability to submit information for items that have been identified <br />including a more detailed analysis of the traffic flow and circulation. Mr. Bohlmann <br />seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. <br />Mr. O'Malley suggested that there should be a defined date or time for the resubmission so <br />that the Commission could conduct their review within 60 days. <br />3. Wild Mantzo; 362 Great Northern Mall (WRD 4) <br />Proposal consists of amendments to the approved farade renovation. Variances may be <br />required. <br />Ms. Wenger reported that the proposal consists of an amendment to the approved fagade <br />renovation and landscaping. The applicant's minor change request, which consist of the as <br />built plans, was denied. An accurate inaterials sheet must be supplied. <br />Changes from the approved plans included use of different materials for the base of the <br />building, the door and framing. The color tones have been changed along with the <br />materials. The lighting has changed from gooseneck to up and down lighting. The bird wire <br />has been removed as well as all of the landscaping. Ms. Wenger felt that the priorities were <br />landscaping, lighting issues and building color which needed to be addressed. <br />Mr. Conway stated the light fixtures should be addressed, and would require a variance <br />unless the Commission considered it decorativ.e, non-essential lighting. <br />Mr. Jai Wei, owner, addressed the lighting. He wanted the lighting to have a minimum <br />appearance with maximum lighting. Westfield suggested to him that there was not enough <br />lighting. He then submitted photos of the lights. Mr. Wei stated that Westfield was <br />responsible for the plan involving Archivers and Wild Mango's landscaping; further the <br />curbed side walk would leave only 24 inches of sidewalk to pass. Mr. Wei does not feel that <br />the beds are realistic. <br />Mr. Bohlman stated that the lighting is absolutely unacceptable. He questioned why so many <br />changes were made without approval.
