ROLL CALL: Mr. Schumann called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. <br />PRESENT: D. Thomas, L. Orlowski, P. Schumann, M. Davis, T. Dubowski, J. Herwick, <br />T.Schock <br />ABSENT: J. Lasko <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Joe Bouman <br />H. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />Mr. Herwick moved to approve the meeting minutes for February 12, 2007, seconded <br />by Mr. Dubowski, which was unanimously approved. <br />III. OLD BUSINESS: <br />Historic Recognition <br />Mr. Joe Bouman was present at the meeting to inquire on a plaque for historic recognition. <br />Mr. Schumann gave Mr. Bouman an application. The question of plaquing a tree was made <br />by Mr. Bouman, however the Commission was unsure if there was a procedure for such a <br />proposal. <br />Mr. Schumann and the Commission discussed awarding a plaque to the Franks house. The <br />Commission reviewed the historical information and agreed to award the plaque. <br />Mr. Schumann moved to plaque the Franks home, 26016 Kennedy Ridge Road, <br />seconded by Mr. Orlowski, which was unanimously approved. The date strip should <br />state `Circa 18701. <br />The Frank's home, in addition to two other approved homes, will be notified by mail that <br />their home has been approved for a Historic Recognition plaque. The owners will be <br />awarded their plaques at an upcoming Landmarlcs Commission meeting. The cost of the date <br />strips for the plaques will be $210.00. Other homes are being considered for recognition as <br />well. <br />Mr. Schumann reviewed the process for nominating an actual landmark. The suggested <br />properties for landmark include the Middle School, Frostville, Springvale Ballroom and <br />possibly the old Butternut School. Frostville could be designated as an entire historic district. <br />IV. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Discussion of notential historic Landmarks <br />Mr. Thomas gave a brief review of the Ohio Historical Society's process for landmarking. <br />He further explained the significance of the Doolittle campaign with regards to recognizing <br />Springvale with an Ohio Historical Marker. Mr. Thomas provided the proposed language for <br />the suggested historical marker. Mr. Schumann noted that NASA may have an interest in <br />sponsoring the marker as well.
