CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMIORISSION <br />1VIEETING MINUTES OF DECEMBER 3, 2008 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Acting Chair Martindale called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. at the North Olmsted Branch <br />Library. <br />Present: Faye Curry, Beverle Martindale, David Wahl, John Kepperley, Gerald Yustick <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MIIVUTES <br />Mr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Mr. Wahl, to approve the minutes of November 5, 2008, <br />which were approved, 5-0. <br />OLI) BUSINESS <br />Holidav Lighting Contest (Prizes) <br />Mr. Wahl moved, seconded by Ms. Martindale, to approve the certificate design as submitted, <br />which was approved, 5-0. The available Commission members will view and photograph the <br />entries the evening of December 19. All Commission members will then meet at the Library on <br />Sunday, December 21 at 1:00 p.m. to determine the winners. A map of the city with the entry <br />streets marked is requested from the Planning Department along with a list of all contestants. <br />For prizes, mounting the award certificates on a wood base with a Plexiglas cover was discussed. <br />They can be made for $14 per plaque. An engraved plaque on wood would be $24. It was <br />agreed each member of the commission would contribute to the cost of the plaques. <br />NEW SUSINESS <br />Election of Cultural Actieities Chairman <br />Mr. Kepperley nominated Gerald Yustick as Chair of the Cultural Activities Commission, which <br />was seconded by Ms. Curry and unanimously approved. Ms. Martindale will remain Co-Chair. <br />2009 Meeting Calendar <br />The calendar, as submitted, was approved. The meetings will continue to take place at the <br />Library; meeting room reservations may be made. <br />Goals and proiects for 2009 <br />It is planned to improve and expand the Juried Art Show, which is scheduled for August 9, 2009. <br />Advance notice information and applications will be mailed in late January. Additional <br />advertising will be sought. Financing for the cost of changing the date on the banners was <br />questioned as well as if city monies had been budgeted for the art show.
