LANDMARKS COMMISSION
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
MEETING MINUTES FOR AUGUST 11, 2008
ROLL CALL
Mr. Schumann called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. in Council Chambers.
Present: Paul Schumann, Dale Thamas, Thomas Schock, John Lasko, Maryellen Davis
Absent: Donald Rerko, Jeff Herwick, Larry Orlowski, Tom Dubowski
Staff: Secretary Tricia Granfors
At Mr. Lasko's request, those present stood to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES
Concerning the Stearns Marker, Mr. Thomas wished to add that since the plaque is to be placed
on park property, Planning Director Wenger in consultation with a designated representative of
the Metropaxks should make the final decision on the location.
Mr. Lasko moved, seconded by Ms. Davis, to approve the July 14, 2008 minutes with
changes, which was unanimously approved.
OLD BUSINESS
Frostville Village Church Marker (Review)
The plaque was installed in July a couple weeks before the August 3rd dedication.
Streetscape Banners for Frostville Area (Review)
Director Wenger determined the banner locations with recommendations from First Energy.
Annually, art show banners will go up in the spring, be taken down after the show, and stored on
City property. The Frostville banners will come down before the snow flies. If the Olmsted
Historical Society wishes to put up other banners, the same poles and hardware can be used.
Concerning the proper name for Frostville, the Metroparks signs list the site as Frostville
Museum, not Village.
Peake Marker
Mr. Thomas reported the plaque should be delivered in about a week. The marker will be
installed adjacent to the Wasmer Estate, near the border with Fairview Park, east of the existing
Parker Ranch marker. Plans for the dedication event will be made at the September 8th
Landmarks Commission meeting. The event will be scheduled for the end of September or
beginning of October. The Historical Society in Columbus plans to send a representative. The
local media will also be invited. Ms. Faye Curry of the Cultural Activities Commission requests
