Student Robert Pickett
Absent: John Lasko
Staff: Secretary Tricia Granfors
REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES
Concerning the Caster property, Mr. Schock requests Mr. Lasko's statement concerning the
property be removed or modified to reflect that the statement is Mr. Lasko's opinion.
Mr. Dubowski moved, seconded by Ms. Davis, to approve the August 11, 2008 minutes,
with requested modification, which was approved. Mr. Rerko abstained.
NEW BUSINESS
Request for Certificate of Appropriateness: Dean Ziehm, 25687 Butternut Ridge Road,
PPN 236-23-024, requesting a Certificate of Appropriateness for alteration of gutters,
fascia, siding/exterior finish, soffit, exterior color, and decorative trim on exterior of home.
The house, built in 1950, has aluminum siding on approximately half the exterior. The
remainder is wood siding. Siding covers a bump-out for the dining room around back corner of
house as well as the push-out on top of back of house. The dimension of the current lap siding is
8"; Mr. Ziehm intends to replace it with 4" traditional vinyl siding. The planned color is Cape
Cod gray with white trim. The windows, which were altered by a previous owner, will not be
modified. Mr. Schumann reviewed that the matter of artificial siding on houses built after 1950
has been previously discussed by the commission. It was agreed that this would be permitted.
Mr. Rerko approves the plans as submitted as long as the siding matches all the framing around
the doors and windows and does not abut the vinyl all the way to windows, leaving the details as
is. The plans for the shutters were also discussed.
Ms. Davis moved, seconded by Mr. Rerko, to grant Dean Ziehm of 25687 Butternut Ridge
Road a Certificate of Appropriateness for alteration of gutters, fascia, siding/exterior
finish, soffit, exterior color, and decorative trim on exterior of home as discussed, which
was unanimously approved.
