The existing piers are in poor condition. Along with the addition of a third
column the existing piers will be re-built with all new footers and brick matching the existing
brick. A correction was noted on Plan Sheet 3, Construction Note 18 where it states "provide
temporary structural bracing when existing rear and right walls of the existing kitchen is
removed." Note should read living room, not kitchen.
Mr. Calderwood submitted a new drawing and requested a change to add a room to one side of
the porch while keeping the same theme. Railings are to be vinyl for maintenance reasons with
cedar siding and Aztek window trim. Existing exterior is wood siding. .A sample piece of the
Aztek product, a mixture of wood and vinyl, was inspected by Commission members. Updated
plans must be submitted to the Building Department for review and approval; the Certificate of
Appropriateness language requires modification.
Mr. Herwick moved, seconded by Mr. Orlowski, to grant Charles and Catherine Heaton of
26405 Butternut Ridge Road a Certificate of Appropriateness for windows, doors, fascia,
siding/exterior finish and soffits, subject to Building Department approval for changes as
submitted to include a small room on porch, which was unanimously approved.
