PLANNING & DESIGN COMMISSION
CITY OF NORTH OLIVIST'ED
1VIINiJTES FOR SEPTEMBER 24, 2008
ROLL CALL
Mr. Laslco called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. in Council Chambers and led the Pledge of
Allegiance.
Present: John Laslco, Angela Williamson, Ralph Bohlmann, Melissa Meredith, Jim Cotner,
Don Rerlco
Absent: Greg Malone
Staff: Planning Director Kim Wenger, Assistant Law Director Bryan O'Malley, Assistant
Building Commissioner Dale Mitchell, City Engineer Dan Collins, Clerk of
Commissions Donna Rote
REVIEW AND CORI2ECTION OF MINUTES
Mr. Laslco moved, seconded Uy Mrs. Meredith, to approve the Planning & Design Commission
ininutes of September 10, 2008 as written, which was unanimously approved 6-0.
OLD BUSINESS
COMS08-09: Exit 2 Storage; 31399 Industrial Parkway
Representatives: Dale Sclunidt, owner; Mr. Mills, attorney
Mr. Laslco said the proposal consisted of adding an additiona128 covered storage spots. Ms.
Wenger said the proposal adds another canopy for outdoor storage at the existing facility. The
revised plan shows the split face bock end cap on the north side of the structure. However, the
architectural site plan continues to show future drive, buildings and pavement which she
recommends removing. She noted the architectural and engineering plans were not consistent.
The engineering plan includes 6-inch curbing.
Mr. Mitchell said the mesh fence screening needed to be illustrated on the building plans as does
the 6-inch curbing. Mr. Collins said a professional engineer was hired to verify the existing 60
inch pipe underground retention system was designed to handle the additional impervious
surface. Those plans were received and show the system will handle the expansion. Mr.
O'Malle.y said the side yard lot line was discussed at the last meeting and the Building
Commissioner's letter clarifies the matter.
Mr. Sclunidt said the 6 inch curb and masonry wall are both shown as requested. However he
aslced that the wall be constructed 8 feet high, thereby providing him the ability for the next
phase to be interloclc with this phase. He suggested the commission could stipulate that if the
next phase didn't include connecting the two buildings, the wall be extended to 16 feet.
Mr. Rerlco said possible fiiture development details should be removed from all plans. He prefer
the wall be 16 feet high now as the two structures could be interlocked easily in the future phase.
Mr. Laslco agreed with having the current wall 16 feet tall now as the future is never certain.
